CANADA–UKRAINE The Government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) provides funding to Canada-Ukraine Environmental Cooperation Program (CUECP) for years 1999-2002. This Program comes under the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Canada and the Government of Ukraine on Cooperation on Climate Change, including Joint Activities signed in January 1999. The Program is being administrated and delivered by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. The Program’s goal is to improve Ukraine’s transition to a market economy by enhancing capacities to manage environmental protection issues and activities. The Program’s focus is capacity building for Climate Change management in three main areas:
The Program’s objectives are:
A Joint Ukrainian-Canadian Program Management Committee (PMC) is responsible for the implementation of the Program. PMC is being supported by Canadian and Ukrainian Management Subcommittees. Ukrainian stakeholders play strong Program Management role through Ukrainian Management Subcommittee. Projects within the Program are being implemented by Ukrainian institutions, organizations and specialists.
