Dear Mr. Lemley,

Thank you for inviting us to participate in the meeting of the Multilateral Climate Change Working Group that will take place on May17, 2001.

The following representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine will take part in the meeting: Viacheslav Lipinskiy, Head of Department for Hydrometeorological Services and Monitoring, Oleh Velychko, Deputy Head of Department for Hydrometeorological Services and Monitoring and Head of Department for Environment Monitoring, Valery Vodolaskov, Head of Department for International Cooperation and European Integration, Heorhiy Veremiychyk, Deputy Head of Department for Environment Monitoring and Head of Climate Change Division.

Main issues that we would like to discuss are about execution of annual obligations of Ukraine as a Party to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, namely: preparation of GHG Emissions Inventory and National Communication on climate change issues. It is important to improve coordination of joint activities, the use of results of on-going and completed projects on climate change and methodological assistance regarding preparation of the above mentioned documents in accordance with new requirements. It would be good to hold the discussion in the form of a round table.

Mr. Oleh Velychko, Deputy Head of Department for Hydrometeorological Services and Monitoring and Head of Department for Environment Monitoring has been assigned as a person responsible for co-operation with the Working Group on a permanent basis.
